Marisa Fernandez Esteban is an official of the European Commission. She works in the Audiovisual and Media Policies Unit of the Directorate-General for Information Society and Media. She is in charge of audiovisual and media policies in enlargement countries and Media since 2004. From 2001 to 2004 she worked in the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission in antitrust and merger cases regarding media. Before joining the European Commission she was a lecturer on Constitutional and EU law at the Autonoma University of Madrid. She also taught a specialized course on media freedoms and the internet. She holds a PHD in European Law from the European University Institute in Florence and is the author of 3 books on different topics of European law.
