AFP -- one of the world’s leading news agencies -- is looking for a journalist to join its team in Belgrade and build on our reporting in Serbia, while keeping an eye on regional coverage. 

 

AFP’s Belgrade bureau is a hub for coverage across the Western Balkans including Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro.

 

Working under the direction of the bureau chief and a news editor, you will be covering the main news stories coming from the region, pitching original story ideas, cultivating sources and working alongside colleagues from across the Balkans to provide the most accurate and original coverage.

 

Excellent writing skills in either French or English are required, as well as perfect command of the Serbian language. Part of your work would likely include translating stories written by your colleagues.

 

You must be ready to work a wide-range of hours in case of breaking news. In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.
